Some of Forsta’s On Premise clients have enquired whether Forsta supports running Forsta Plus on cloud servers. While technically possible, there are some limitations inherent to this model that need to be considered, and has limited support by Forsta. Below are some points of consideration when planning a cloud site.
Forsta Plus Features
Resources (Virtual Machines, Networking etc.) provided by Cloud providers vary between provider. These resources may not have the granularity of configurability which may result in technical issues with Forsta Plus features to function as intended.
Site Performance and Stability
The nature of cloud infrastructure is to share underlying infrastructure between customers. From our experience you may find yourself in a situation where infrastructure may be over-allocated, and the result may be performance issues due to other clients exhausting available resources - so called “noisy neighbors”.
As long as what is provided by your hosting provider matches what is recommend in this document, it is up to you to choose whether or not you want to run on a shared cloud infrastructure, depending on your needs for performance and segregation due to security. Forsta Support may not be able to assist you if an issue is caused by underlying cloud infrastructure.
However, Forsta hosts two SaaS sites on Azure, located in Canada and Germany. Hosting Forsta Plus on Azure cloud infrastructure results in some features are not working as expected, or requiring specific site design to work.
